My New View
The standing desk is a failure. I got rid of my monster desk and relocated my computer to a shelf unit. My plan was to work at the standing computer every day. Just the act of standing and fidgeting around would help me burn a few more calories automatically. Instead, I worked on my laptop on the couch, on the comfy chair and at the kitchen table. I worked on my laptop so much that I became used to how SLOW it is. When I would use the standing desk computer, I would be surprised at its speed. That’s when I KNEW I needed to give up on the standing desk idea.
I like the view from my desk now. The sun is in my eyes and it entices me to open the blinds. I’ll have to get dressed before I can do that, though.
That is so funny… I did the same thing. I built a standing desk for my video editing… but I hated editing so much because of the standing that I had to drop it.
Good to know I’m not alone.

You should try sitting on a stability ball instead. It’s supposed to be good for your back & posture. I find that one that’s a little larger than the one I use for regular exercise is right for me. I’ve also heard it improves core strength, but that may just be a rumor because the balls are used so much in pilates classes. When you get tired you can easily switch to a regular chair instead.

Have you ever considered adjustable-height? GeekDesk makes a nice motorized unit, as either a complete desk or just the frame. Working standing is great, but works best part time, at least in my experience.
