HeMan IS the Master of the Universe
This video shows some people from a television show called The Eagle’s Nest. Based on facial hair and tie width, it looks like it’s from the early ’80’s and they are discussing HeMan and his occultic influence on our youth…
It’s now 2007. My sister and I are the children that they were so worried about. I can safely tell you that I fell away from Jesus because of dorks like the guys in this video and not because of HeMan. In fact, HeMan was awesome. At the end of every episode, they had a moral to the story. I learned more good morals from HeMan than I ever did from the misogynistic writings of the Bible.
HeMan IS the Master of the Universe.
I had the HeMan figure that they show in the video!

So did my sister! I was at that age where it was uncool to like cartoons anymore, but I still watched. I never had the toys, but I pretended to ignore the show while watching intently over my sister’s shoulder.
We both turned out alright…

I agree, Laura. HeMan was the bomb. I remember watching that all the time. And they always had a moral to the story.
Okay first of all, the cartoon/figures that children play with always overpower them for a period of their life. This is normal and every child does it. For one of our boys it was Buzz Lightyear and then anything Star Wars, Harry Potter, or Eragon. He’s also reading two years ahead of his class and writing 3 years ahead of his class so his interest in “baby things,” as he calls them, died a long time ago. We have to pull in the reigns from time to time to make sure he isn’t exposed to certain things at a younger age, but that’s our job as parents not some pompous blow hard who has to used scare tactics to make his point.
These people in the video come from the same branch as Tipper Gore (and her followers) that have said that music causes suicide and other self-destructive behavior. As a mother of an 11 year old girl, Tipper purchased a Prince album for her daughter and was astonished at the explicit lyrics. What did she expect? It’s Prince. How about own up to the fact that you bought a Prince album for your 11 year old daughter and it was a mistake. A mistake that you made.

Anyway, I watch these videos and read these articles in disgust because everyone thinks they can raise our children better than we can but if we aren’t to raise our children up as we choose then why was America founded?
This same issue is still here and the new targets are MySpace, email/texting, and vidcasting. I don’t allow my children to participate in these activities because I do and I know what goes on there. However, there will come a day when I can’t stop it anymore and rather than blame everyone else for the influence in my children’s life I’m working to teach my children how to make decisions. Good decision = positive outcome. Bad decision = pay up sucker.
Okay that’s all. Thanks for listening.
