Wow, that talk by Elizabeth Gilbert is making me cry. I don’t know why. I love performing. I love those shining moments she’s talking about. I was recently interviewed by a man writing an article about our improv group and he asked me where I think that shining when I get up on stage comes from.
I haven’t seen myself on stage, of course, so I don’t see the shining. I said, “Um… is this a metaphysical question? I guess it comes from me.” Then he kind of implied that I’m not shining before I get up on stage and then all of the sudden, Im shining! How can that be?
Now I want to send him this talk. Actually, I would like to claim all my comedy performing shining. That is one of my favorite things about myself, but I would LOVE to share the blame and any credit for my other artistic endevours.
